The Bureau of Industry and Security has posted a PDF portfolio of comments it received in response to the review conducted pursuant to Executive Order 13653. This retrospective review covers portions of the Export Administration Regulations, Chemical Weapons Convention Regulations, Additional Protocol Regulations, and National Defense Industrial Base Regulations to determine how they might be clarified or streamlined to be more effective or less burdensome.
There are about twenty comments included in the PDF and they address several topics including a request for a bulk deemed export license, the new STA license exception, the definition of routed transactions, etc.
As usual, we recommend that exporters provide regular and valuable feedback to BIS if they’re able to. Doing so gives the Export Control Reform Initiative its best chance of succeeding. Plus, you can only complain so much if you didn’t speak up!
